- Report presented on the 16th of December 2022 in Ouagadougou
Sustainable development is one of the struggles of the century, particularly in the context of soil degradation. Aware of its duties and prerogatives, the mining company Endeavour Mining organised a session to present its sustainable development report and the report on economic and fiscal contribution on Friday 16 December 2022 in Ouagadougou. The session was attended by many participants including the Minister of Energy, Mines and Quarries, Simon Pierre Boussim and the Canadian Ambassador to Burkina Faso, Lee Anne Hermann.

Endeavour Mining has four mines in operation in Burkina Faso, all of which contribute to sustainable development in their areas of operation. According to the Minister of Energy, Mines and Quarries: “Endeavour Mining should be congratulated for what it has done, and called upon to do more, particularly in the security sector. On the issue of sustainable development, he also maintained that a responsible company is one that values and integrates into its approach one or more of the 17 sustainable development objectives listed in the United Nations 2030 agenda.
The implementation of Endeavour mining’s responsible business conduct policy has produced results. 95% of its employees are from host countries. Approximately 1,700 West African companies work with Endeavour in West Africa. In addition to the implementation of a new sustainability strategy, the Endeavour Foundation is carrying out sustainability projects at national and regional level.
During the presentation ceremony, beneficiaries and subcontractors of the Endeavour mine expressed their gratitude to the company.
In Burkina Faso, Endeavour Mining intends to increase its production and contribute to the socio-economic development of the communities in which it operates, while limiting the impact of the activity on the environment throughout the life cycle of the mines. The mining company is environmentally conscious and advocates for environmental protection. It aims to achieve zero emissions by 2050 and in the medium term to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2030. Therefore, it is working to build a portfolio of high quality assets, a strong social licence to operate, a solid balance sheet and a consistent sustainability programme.

The implementation of the ‘Elites of Tomorrow’ programme in all its countries of operation through its foundation provides funding for the education of the best students in the localities of the mining sites to create the leaders of tomorrow. Finally, Endeavour mining promotes local content at both staff and supply levels.
