In 2020, the mining sector contributed 291.70 billion CFA francs to the state budget, according to the 2020 report of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative in Burkina Faso (EITI-BF).

This sum represents 12.29% of state revenues in 2020. In the same year, the mining sector contributed 11.02% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

Mining revenues are collected by the three revenue authorities, namely the Directorate General of Taxes (DGI), the Directorate General of Customs (DGD) and the Directorate General of the Treasury and Public Accounts (DGTCP).

The DGI collected the most with 96.631 billion CFA francs. It is followed by the DGTCP ( 55.160 billion FCFA) and the DGD (43.174), according to government statements reported in the 2020 EITI-BF report.
