-strengthening the operational capacities of institutional actors in the artisanal mining sector
– strengthening the capacities of artisanal miners in terms of good practices in the extraction and processing of ore
– strengthening the National Office for the Security of Mining Sites (ONASSIM) and making it operational (providing a military intervention force);
-encouraging local initiatives to secure the sites;
– the establishment of an effective system of supervision and control of those subject to the non-financial sector
– the promotion of new technologies available through the National Agency for the Supervision of Artisanal and Semi-Mechanised Mining (ANEEMAS) and ensuring the effectiveness of the prerogatives granted to it:
The Minister of Mines and Quarries, Jean Alphonse Somé, assured that the recommendations resulting from the work of this first edition of the JAM will not be put aside. Cross-cutting issues that concern other departments will also be taken into account, he said. The mining artisans, through their various organisations, are committed to supporting the government in its efforts to reorganise the sector.
