#Tidiane_Barry was confirmed as General Director of the #Essakane mine on the 13th of October 2022.
As a reminder, he was appointed on the 6th of July 2022, as interim General Director of the #Essakane mine after the departure of the former General Director, Mohamed Ourriban
Prior to this position of General Director, #Tidiane_Barry who has made his career in this company held among others the position of:
- Country Manager,
- Director of Corporate Affairs,
- Director of Supply Chain,
- Deputy General Director.
Iamgold Essakane signed its mining convention with the Burkinabe government on the 25th of September 2008. The Essakane mine is operated by #Iamgold. It is the largest mining project in Burkina Faso. In 2020, the mine produced 12.57 tonnes of gold, i.e. 20.16% of the annual gold production estimated at 62.74 tonnes by the General Directorate of Mines and Geology. In the same year, it paid 36.120 billion FCFA in revenue to the state budget, i.e. 13.84% of the year’s mining revenue. Of the 2,611 employees, 2,466 are of Burkinabe nationality and 145 of foreign nationality.
