Between January and November 2022, gold production stood at 52.279 tonnes. This is a decrease compared to the same period last year when 61.041 tonnes of gold were recorded. This represents a decrease of 8.762 tonnes, corresponding to a rate of 14.4% compared to the same period a year earlier. According to the Directorate General for the Economy and Development (DGEP), which provided this information, this decline in production, is explained by the cessation of production by mining companies including SOMITA, SAMTENGA and BMC.

A comparison of production between November 2022 and October 2022 shows a strong increase in production between the two periods. In fact, it rose from 3,271 tonnes in October 2022 to 5,358 tonnes in November 2022, an increase of 63.8%.

The fall in production is partly compensated by the good performance of the gold price. In November 2022, the price of an ounce of gold increased by 3.6% compared to October 2022. It rose from 1,665.6 US dollars in October 2022 to 1,725.4 US dollars in November 2022. On a year-on-year basis, it is down by 5.2% as it was fixed at 1,820.3 US dollars in November 2021. The level of the gold price remains high in line with the uncertainties in the global economy.
