The gold mine at Bomboré, operated by Orezone Bomboré SA, poured its first gold bar (see picture). Orezone Bomboré SA started commercial production on 1 December 2022. This is a much-awaited ingot in the sense that it comes at a time when the sector is in crisis. Indeed, following the terrorist attacks, some mining sites have had to suspend their activities. Difficulties in supplying and transporting personnel have contributed to a drop in production at those that are in production. The social and economic loss is significant. The Orezone_Bomboré_SA ingot, which marks the beginning of commercialization, is seen as a hope in the sense that the production of this company will compensate the loss of earnings for a while. Orezone_Bomboré_SA is located in the commune of Mogtédo, in the province of Ganzourgou (Plateau Central region), an area spared by insecurity until now.

Orezone Bomboré SA obtained its mining permit on 30 December 2016. Its licence covers an area of 25 km2. On 26 February 2019, it signed its mining convention with the Burkinabe state. The long time between the granting of the permit and the start of construction (3 years) is explained by financing difficulties.

Coris Bank International was asked to be one of the financial partners of Orezone Bomboré SA. This bank financed the mine for a total of 52.5 billion FCFA, which made it possible to speed up the work.

On the day of the launch of the construction works of the mine on 24 May 2019, figures were put forward.

The reserves of this mine are estimated at 31 tons of raw gold for a period of exploitation of about 12 years. Economically, the Bomboré mine will generate 144 billion FCFA in terms of taxes for the state budget in addition to 7 billion FCFA for the local development mining fund. In social terms, the mine will create 620 direct jobs during the exploitation phase. Waiting for a better security of all the mining sites so that work can resume.
