Fortuna, the company that operates the Yaramoko mine (Roxgold’s mine) in Bagassi, Burkina Faso, announced its production results for the year 2022 in a statement issued on 17 January 2023 in Vancouver, Canada. The company took the opportunity to publish its annual forecast for 2023. The release states that Fortuna’s four operating mines in the Americas and West Africa reported record production of 401,878 ounces of gold in 2022. In the fourth quarter of 2022 alone, the 4 mines produced 259,427 ounces of gold and 6,907,275 ounces of silver, which is a 25% increase over the same period in 2021.

All production results are consistent with the mining sequence and mineral reserve estimates.
In West Africa, operations continued their strong performance. In the fourth quarter of 2022, gold production from the Yaramoko mine produced 26,190 ounces of gold at an average head grade of 6.45 grams per tonne. This production is in line with the mining sequence and mineral reserve estimate, and represents an 8% year-on-year decrease. In relation to the 2021 comparative period, the decrease in production is due to lower feed grades. However, grades for the full year were in line with forecast estimates.
Gold production from this mine in 2022 totalled 106,108 ounces reaching the mid-point of the annual guidance range.
In terms of the prospects for 2023, Yaramoko plans to process 526,088 tonnes of ore at an average grade of 5.9 grams per tonne. Capital expenditure is estimated at 40.8 million $, including 37.4 million $ for sustaining capital expenditure and 3.3 million $ for brownfields exploration programmes.
