The Steering Committee of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative in Burkina Faso (EITI-BF) is organising a training workshop on filling in reporting forms to benefit the focal points of the stakeholders in the EITI process from 7 to 8 February 2023 in Ziniaré. This capacity-building workshop is part of preparing the 2021 Extractive Sector Report, commonly known as the EITI Report.

The preparation of this report, placed under the aegis of the Permanent Secretary of EITI-BF, Kanfido ONADJA, starts with the training on the framing and the filling of the declaration forms for the benefit of its focal points, disseminated in the administrations and in the mining companies whose data are of interest to the Steering Committee of EITI-BF. About thirty participants from the Ministries of Finance, Mines, Environment, the Court of Auditors, and mining companies discussed the relevant data to be taken into account in the EITI 2021 report and defined the timetable for its preparation.

The preparation of the EITI 2021 Report is very special for EITI Burkina Faso. Indeed, this year, the independent administrator in charge of the elaboration of the report is a group of two national consulting firms, a first. For the Permanent Secretary:

“This is a great challenge for us and we must meet it successfully. We are obliged to succeed in this exercise in order to demonstrate the maturity of the EITI process in Burkina Faso. If successful, this experience will also strengthen confidence in our national expertise in producing EITI reports.

The group of national firms in charge of the EITI report must submit the results of its work to the EITI-BF steering committee by the end of 2023.
