IAMGOLD Corporation announced on 6 March 2023 the appointment of Maarten Theunissen as financial officer of IAMGOLD. Prior to this appointment, he was appointed as permanent financial officer, having served as interim financial officer since September 2022.
“We are pleased to appoint Maarten Theunissen as Chief Financial Officer on a permanent basis. During his brief tenure as interim financial officer, he quickly became an integral member of the management team and was instrumental in helping the company achieve our financing goals to complete the construction of Côté,” said Maryse Bélanger.
Maarten Theunissen has over 15 years of progressive experience in the mining industry, having served as interim financial officer and vice president of finance for IAMGOLD. Prior to joining the company, Mr. Theunissen was financial officer of a Canadian junior gold producer and senior vice president of finance for one of the world’s largest uranium producers. Mr. Theunissen is a Chartered Accountant (designated in South Africa and Canada) and began his career at KPMG, where he was a director in the mining group. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (with honours) degree in Accounting from the University of Johannesburg.
