- To give more opportunities to local companies and meet local content requirements
- Several modules developed during the training
- A training course that was appreciated by the participants
As part of the implementation of local content, the Sanbrado Mining Company (SOMISA SA) organised a training session for suppliers of local goods and services in Boudry, its area of operation. The training took place in two parts; from 10 to 17 March and 27 to 31 March 2023. It is part of SOMISA SA’s local purchasing programme that aims to increase the market share of local companies in the mine’s purchases.
Approximately 42 local suppliers participated in the various training sessions, which aimed to make companies from the mine’s surrounding communities more competitive in the national market in general and thus increase their opportunities at the mine for the procurement of goods and services.

The training was completed on 31 March 2023 in Boudry. During this training, several training modules were delivered to participants. These included presentations on corporate taxation, the preparation of tender documents (DAO), and management according to the GERME method (Gérez Mieux votre Entreprise). The GERME method is a system of interdependent training modules and didactic tools for small entrepreneurs to start and develop their businesses.
The closing ceremony of the training mobilised several participants, including local authorities and a representative of the mining company SOMISA SA. During this ceremony, certificates were handed out to the participants.
According to Christian Ouédraogo, the mine’s Director of Corporate Affairs, the training aims to build the capacity of local suppliers. With the implementation of local content, the mine wanted its suppliers to have certain skills to be more competitive.
The latter insisted that local content has requirements and local suppliers lack experience in business management. A situation that prompted the training to enable them to have more chances. After encouraging the participants, Christian Ouédraogo called on them to make use of the knowledge acquired in the training.
Ousmane Zoreingré, trainer and manager of Novagroup, particularly appreciated the enthusiasm of the participants. “Initially planned for 22 people, we ended up with 42”.
The training was also appreciated by the participants. This is the case of Tapsoba Saydou who did not miss the opportunity to thank the mining company. “I had some gaps, and this training will enable me to better manage our businesses”.
