Burkina Faso’s expertise is in great demand abroad. This is the case of Dr Emma Marie Blanche Kantiono, General Manager of Essakane Solar Sas. She participated in Conakry, from 28 to 30 April 2023, in the African Week-End on Mining and Energy Law, where she gave a communication.

During his stay, Dr Kantiono took pleasure in sharing his experience and that of her country, on the themes discussed at the event. This participation is both a personal honour and also for Burkina Faso, a mining country in West Africa, writes our colleague Burkina Demain.
Several themes were addressed during this 2023 edition of Week-End-Africa on the contribution of the African mining and energy sector to the development of the continent. Among these themes, the challenges related to the energy transition and the energy mix, the legal framework to attract investments for the development of solar, wind or hydroelectric projects, the advantages provided in the investment codes and energy codes to promote investments in sub-Saharan Africa, the management of political and security risks in the context of the development of energy projects in African countries in general, the balance between the promotion of investments by nationals and foreign investment, particularly in the natural resources sector in Africa, etc.
For Dr Kantiono, the trends observed in recent years in Africa in terms of laws and regulations in the mining and energy sectors are aimed at better control and participation in the socio-economic development of mining and energy activities in our States.

The African Mining and Energy Law Weekend is a joint initiative of several structures including the Institute of Training and Legal Expertise in partnership with the Guinean Bar Association.
As a reminder, Dr Emma Marie Blanche Kantiono was patron of the 2023 edition of the Ouagadougou International Environment and Renewable Energy Exhibition (SIERO).
