On 1 June 2023, Souleymane Boly became the new Country Manager for Endeavour Mining in Burkina Faso. This appointment comes as no surprise to any observer of the mining sector. Indeed, on 1 March 2023, he was appointed Country Public Affairs Director for Endeavour Mining in Burkina Faso. This appointment was seen as a transitional situation pending his taking over full responsibility for the group’s representation in Burkina Faso. This view was borne out by the reality on the ground, as it was he who conducted the activities on the ground. The most recent was on 27 June 2023, when he took Sébastien De Montessus, Chairman and CEO of Endeavour, to see the Burkina Faso Minister of Mines, Simon Pierre Boussim. Souleymane Boly is no stranger to the mining sector. After a diplomatic career with a position at the US embassy in Ouagadougou, he joined Iamgold Essakane SA in 2018, where he successively held the positions of Corporate Affairs Superintendent, Relations and Community Development Superintendent, Corporate Affairs and Communications Director and Country Director. Boly takes over the reins of the Endeavour mining group in Burkina Faso at a time when the group has sold the Boungou and Waghion mines to Lilium mining.
