Access to resources :

Capacity-building for artisanal miners!

  • Promoting semi-mechanised exploitation through popular shareholding,
  • -Reinforce the safety of activities on the sites to enable site managers to ensure compliance with regulations,
  • Setting up shared processing centres and on-site training, safe digging techniques to reduce negative impacts and increase the profitability of production,
  • Strengthen the human resources of the structures responsible for local management of the suites,

Legal and institutional :

  • Strengthen the management capacity of the State structures responsible for monitoring, control and supervision,
  • Create permanent consultation frameworks between the mining authorities, artisanal miners and mining companies,
  • Streamline procedures and switch to an environmental and social impact statement for applications for semi-mechanised permits,
  • Review taxes on buying and selling gold,
  • Create a local economic mining police force similar to the one that existed under the CBMP,
  • Encourage artisanal miners to form more cooperatives,
  • Reinforce the safety of activities on the sites with the collaboration of the stakeholders,
  • Strengthening the involvement of local authorities in conflict prevention,
  • implement a plan to capitalise on and monitor and evaluate the recommendations arising from the #JAM,
  • Increase the formalisation of players in the artisanal quarrying sector,
  • More decentralised mining administration for local monitoring and control,
  • Take a decision on the use of quarry materials in the construction of public works.
