The press release issued on 2 August 2023 in London, Endeavour Mining presents the operational and financial results for the first semester of 2023 for the group. The press release sets out the results for each mine. At 30 June 2023, Endeavour Mining operated 4 mines in Burkina Faso, including Houndé gold.
At Houndé, production rose from 47,000 ounces in the first trimester of 2023 to 72,000 ounces in the second trimester of 2023, with higher grades, an increase in ore milled and a higher recovery rate. As a reminder, plant performance was affected by a higher proportion of harder ore.
The higher grades were due to the plant being fed with higher-grade ore from the Kari Pump deposit. Production costs at Houndé fell from 1,154 $ per ounce of gold in the first trimester to 1,085 $ per ounce of gold in the second trimester due to the higher grades processed and the higher volumes of gold sold during the trimester.
In terms of outlook, Houndé is on track to achieve its 2023 production guidance of 270 to 285,000 ounces with production costs of 850 $ to 925$/oz. Production is expected to increase in the second semester of the year, due to large volumes of ore expected to come from the high-grade Kari pump pit.
