Fortuna Silver Mines Inc. reported on 7 September 2023, that the trial performance of the processing plant at its Séguéla mine in Côte d’Ivoire was successfully completed in August 2023. The processing plant achieved 168 hours of performance during the test period, enabling the engineering, procurement and construction contract with Lycopodium to be completed. During the performance test, the treatment plant produced average grades of 4.5 grams per tonne.

Jorge A. Ganoza, President and CEO, commented: “The completion of the performance test closes the construction and commissioning phase of the Seguela mine. Completing this project on time and on budget, in a challenging period overall, has been a great achievement, and we now look forward to realising the full value of the project.”

Séguéla poured its first gold on 24 May 2023. Since then, it has increased production to current levels, which exceed nominal capacity. From 4,023 ounces in May-June, production rose to 6,008 ounces in July and 11,685 ounces in August. Since the first gold pour, Séguéla has produced a total of 21,716 ounces of gold.

Fortuna is updating the mine life plan for the Séguéla mine to include the Sunbird mineral deposit, where drilling took place in mid-year. The company is reiterating its 2023 annual production forecast for Séguéla, which is 60,000 to 75,000 ounces of gold.
