In order to harmonise understanding of the new law on local content, the Minister of Mines, Pr Amadou KEITA, held talks on 18 September 2023 with representatives of subcontracting companies and suppliers of goods and services in the mining sector. The aim was to share with these players the main lines of implementation of the law on local content.
The meeting was an opportunity to exchange views and provide information on the sector’s strategic orientations, as set out by the transitional authorities. At the same time, the Minister of Mines listened to their concerns and urged them to do everything in their power to meet the challenge, with the support of the State.
Welcoming the initiative, national subcontracting companies and local suppliers of goods and services unanimously appreciated this action by the government through its ministry in charge of mines. They reaffirmed their commitment to play their part in creating jobs and, by extension, wealth.
The Minister of Mines, Professor Amadou KEITA, reassured the audience that the Malian government would play its full part in applying the Mining Code and the Local Content Act, and urged companies operating in the sector to live up to expectations.
