On 3 November 2023, Endeavour Mining company initialled a memorandum of understanding with the government of Burkina Faso through its Ministry of Energy, Mines and Quarries. This memorandum of understanding is Endeavour Mining’s response to the call to contribute to the peace effort.
The agreement between the mining company Endeavour Mining and the State of Burkina Faso, which comes into force on Friday 3 November 2023, is the result of the Endeavour Foundation’s desire to help improve the living conditions of internally displaced persons (IDPs), according to Souleymane Boly, Endeavour Mining’s Country Director for Burkina Faso, representing the Endeavour Foundation.
Valued at around 600 million FCFA and entirely financed by the Endeavour Foundation, the agreement should result in the purchase of equipment and food for the benefit of the IDPs. “After consultation with the Mining and Humanitarian Action departments, we have undertaken to finance the purchase of foodstuffs, solar street lamps, a solar water pumping system and tents for internally displaced persons,” says Souleymane Boly, Country Director of Endeavour Mining.
This memorandum of understanding, signed for a period of 3 years, is divided into 2 stages. The signature marks the first stage of the project and the second stage will consist of the actual handover of the donations to the beneficiaries.
As a reminder, the Endeavour Foundation implements sustainable projects at regional, national and cross-border levels. These projects complement the initiatives undertaken by Endeavour Mining on its mining sites.
