On Wednesday 20 December 2023, Gabon’s Minister of Mines, Hervé Patrick Opiangah, was granted an audience with the Japanese ambassador, Shuji Noguchi. The Japanese diplomat said he had gone to find out about the mining opportunities available in Gabon, as well as its mining policy, so that he could present them to potential investors in his country.
On leaving the audience, the Japanese diplomat, Shuji Noguchi, confided that he had discussed mining cooperation between Japan and Gabon with the Gabonese Minister of Mines. He also noted that this audience was in line with his desire to discuss mining issues with the Gabonese authorities. Japanese investors are keen to participate in the development of the mining sector in Gabon. “There is indeed great potential in your country, and Japanese investors would like to take part in exploring and exploiting it,” says Shuji Noguchi.
