Appointed Minister of Energy, Mines and Quarries on 17 December 2023, replacing Simon Pierre Boussim, Yacouba Zabré Gouba was installed this Friday 22 December 2023 in Ouagadougou by the Secretary General of the Government and the Council of Ministers. In his first speech, he called on his colleagues to work together to meet the challenges and capitalise on the achievements of his predecessor.

The new Minister for Energy, Mines and Quarries, Yacouba Zabré Gouba, praised all his predecessors in general and Simon Pierre Boussim in particular. He acknowledged the achievements of the department over many years, and reassured his colleagues that these gains will be built on and used as a compass to achieve greater success. “The gains we have made will be built on and should enable us to achieve further successes in order to respond effectively to the current needs for peace and security in our country and to the legitimate aspirations of the entire Burkinabe people,” said Yacouba Zabré Gouba.

“I assure all my colleagues that I am fully accessible and available, and at the same time I promise to use dialogue and consultation as working tools to overcome current difficulties,” said Yacouba Zabré Gouba.

At the same time, he invited the ministry’s staff and partners to support his successor so that more could be achieved at the head of the ministry in charge of mines. “I call on you, I beg you and I implore you to support my successor more than you have done for me, to enable him to make the world a better place. Be loyal to him,” he said. Simon Pierre Boussim wished Yacouba Zabré Gouba every success, and assured him that he would always have his unfailing support in consolidating what has been achieved, whenever he needed it.
