Côte d’Ivoire: Lower oil production in 2021

Based on data reported by PETROCI, oil production reached 8,773,263 bbl in 2021, compared with 10,875,237 bbl in 2020. These statistics from the 2023 report of the Côte d’Ivoire Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI-CI) show a decline linked to the exploitation of hydrocarbons in Côte d’Ivoire.

In terms of revenue, oil production is estimated at 588.09 million USD, the equivalent of 326.714 billion FCFA. Production in 2021 will come mainly from blocks CI-40 and CI-26, which account for 74% and 18% of national production respectively.

In terms of breakdowns by operator, CNR is in the lead with its Baobab and Hope fields. Production is 6,512,587 barrels and 1,613,597 barrels respectively. In addition to CNR, there is also FOXTROT, whose production is estimated at 540,120 barrels, and PETROCI CI-11, with its Lion and Panthère fields producing 106,959 barrels.

Unlike oil production, gas production rose in 2021. Its production reached 83,814,254 Million British Thermal Unit (MMBTU) in 2021 compared with 69,948,331 MMBTU in 2020, an increase of 16.54%. The breakdown of production by field and operator is as follows. The FOXTROT field stands out with an estimated production of 70,778,901 MMBTU. Production from the CNR fields is 743,829 MMBTU for Baobab, 6,522,920 MMBTU and 5,768,604 MMBTU for PETROCI CI-11 at its Lion et Panthère site.
