Aurum Resources announced on 5 February 2024 that it had raised more than 2.7 billion FCFA (4.5 million $). The funds will be used to finance exploration programmes at the recently acquired Boundiali gold project in Ivory Coast.
In December 2023, Aurum Resources acquired the PlusOr company, which holds an interest in the licences that make up the Boundiali project. The Boundiali project is located in the same gold belt “as the Syama, Tongon and Koné gold mines”, explains Caigen Wang, founder of PlusOr and now CEO of Aurum Resources. Caigen Wang has many years’ experience in the Ivorian mining sector. As CEO of Tietto Minerals, he oversaw the development and construction of the Abujar gold mine in Ivory Coast. The mine will go into production in 2023 and can deliver 200,000 ounces (6.2 tonnes of gold) a year over the first six years, with an initial life of 10 years.
