The case involves the mining company Iamgold Essakane SA, the company Bolloré and public officials.
Each party has 90 days to produce observations. During the first 45 days, the parties will have to submit their own observations. The lawyers will use the remaining 45 days to comment on the other lawyers’ observations.
For this observer of the case: “The independent expertise has mobilised a lot of means and technicality unlike the first expertise. This independent expertise should be able to enlighten public opinion on the real content of the coal bags and finally reveal the truth in this case of fine coal.
Indeed, unlike the first reports which were rejected by some parties as not meeting scientific standards, the fact that all parties collaborated, including Essakane, proves that this second report should be unanimous. 640 samples were taken and analysed in the framework of this second expertise. The two experts had to change laboratories for the analyses. This is one of the reasons why the report took so long.
