Endeavour Mining expressed its deep sadness over the news and expressed its sincere condolences and support to the family, colleagues and friends of the deceased.

The company promises to conduct a full internal investigation into the incident and will work closely with the relevant local authorities.

The incident has not impacted the mine’s operations. “Processing activities continued while mining operations were temporarily suspended at the site, and all operations have now resumed,” according to the Endeavour mining statement.

Endeavour acquired the Ity mine in 2015. It holds 85% of the shares against 10% for the Ivorian state and 5% for the state-owned company, SODEMI.

Endeavour Mining is present in West Africa, with operating assets in Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire and Burkina Faso. It has numerous research projects in these countries. It is listed on the London and Toronto stock exchanges.
