The Iamgold Essakane SA gold mine organised on 10 November 2022 in Dori, an Open Day dedicated to local suppliers of the mine and economic operators of the region. Organised in collaboration with the consular delegation of the Sahel Chamber of Commerce and Industry, this first Open Day aimed to present the achievements and exchange with local actors for the establishment of collaborative synergies. In his speech at the opening ceremony, Souleymane Boly, Country Director of Iamgold Essakane SA, congratulated the strong mobilisation of economic operators and suppliers of goods and services in the region despite the current difficult context. For him, local supply occupies a major place in the wealth sharing strategy defined by Iamgold Essakane SA. And according to Souleymane Boly, since 2010, nearly 1,300 billion FCFA in sales have been generated by the mine’s supply chain to companies based in Burkina Faso and more than 35 billion FCFA in sales have been made by companies in the Sahel since 2012, generating more than 1,000 indirect jobs with local suppliers. But the mine does not intend to stop there, which is why it will deploy a multitude of actions based on an ambitious strategy to promote purchasing at the national level, particularly in the Sahel region. Even if excellent results have been achieved so far, Iamgold Essakane SA still wants to do better and considers that local supply is a powerful lever for economic and social development to be strengthened, Souleymane Boly insisted.

For Ibrahim Dicko, President of the Regional Consular Delegation of the Sahel, “Iamgold Essakane SA is one of the flagships in this field that favours local suppliers. He acknowledged the leading role played by Iamgold Essakane SA in the region before wishing to maintain the course and even increase the opportunities. Ibrahim Dicko urged local suppliers to comply with the standards set by the mine.
