#Burkina Faso: Government awards gold mining permit to the company Nordgold Yimiougou SA

The Council of Ministers today, 7 December 2022, adopted a report on an application for an industrial exploitation permit for a large gold mine by the company Nordgold Yimiougou SA, in the commune of Korsimoro, province of Sanmatenga, Centre-North Region.

According to the report of the council of ministers, the mining reserves of the Yimiougou deposit are estimated at 1.501 million tonnes of ore, with an average grade of 1.88 grams per tonne. The metallurgical recovery rate is estimated at about 87.1%.

The Yimiougou deposit is planned to last for four years and covers an area of 31.44 km2 with a total estimated production of 2.53 tonnes of gold. The project’s direct contribution to the state budget is estimated at 5.356 billion FCFA.

The contribution to the local development mining fund is estimated at 648.385 million CFA francs over the life of the project.
