An investigation has been opened by the Prosecutor of Faso in order to establish all responsibilities in the events that occurred at the Konkera SA mine, located in Batié, in the province of Noumbiel, in the South West region. This information was given by Simon Pierre Boussim, Minister of Energy, Mines and Quarries. As a reminder, during the day of November 29, 2022, there were scuffles between gold miners installed on the outskirts of the Konkera SA mine and the police in charge of security at the mine. According to the Minister, the incident in Konkera followed a confrontation between a police team and artisanal miners. The minister confirmed the number of victims: “This confrontation unfortunately resulted in one death and three injuries on the side of the artisanal miners and the destruction of the installations of the site of the base-live of the mining company Konkera SA”.
