The Burkina Faso Alliance of Mining Suppliers (ABSM) organised from the 8th to the 9th of December 2022 in Ouagadougou, the 3rd edition of the mining supplier days under the theme: “What mechanisms for an efficient implementation of Local Content in the mining sector in Burkina Faso?

These days were attended by actors from the mining sector and many authorities.
Local content can be assimilated to national preference. It is of vital importance in the extractive industry sector, particularly through mining suppliers. One of the aims of these days is to encourage and promote local content.
These days aimed to assess the state of play in terms of local sourcing in mining companies, to raise awareness of procurement procedures, to train and sensitise participants on the requirements and standards for the supply of goods and services in the mines, to communicate on the texts on local content, to explore financing solutions to support national mining suppliers, to explain the link between Corporate Social Responsibility and local content in the mining sector, and to put local mining suppliers in touch with mining buyers.
Yves Zongo, president of the ABSM underlined in his speech at the opening ceremony that “the mining supplier’s day is a springboard that brings together mining actors and suppliers allowing other actors to understand that for 10 years the struggle has resulted in texts that give priority to Burkinabè on 65 items”.
He also called on Burkinabè to defend the gains made and to take hold of the services dedicated to them: “We have strategically chosen to go towards the texts and to produce something for the whole nation”.
