The artisanal gold mining site of Dohoun, near the town of Houndé, experienced a landslide on the night of 7 to 8 February 2023.
To date, 10 gold miners have been killed. According to local sources, they were all from the village of Dohoun and also from Bouéré, located about ten kilometres from the town of Houndé.
The causes of the landslide have not yet been communicated.
As a reminder, the area around Houndé is occupied by gold miners who exploit gold in an artisanal manner. Many security incidents are regularly reported.
