In 2020, Burkina Faso’s mining sector exported 62.67 tonnes of gold. According to the 2020 report of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative in Burkina Faso (EITI-Burkina Faso), which reports this information, the sale of this gold brought in revenue of 2,050.76 billion FCFA. This gold was exported by the 17 industrial mining companies in operation, on the one hand, and the gold buying offices and the National Agency for the Supervision of Artisanal and Semi-Mechanised Mining (ANEEMAS), which market artisanally produced gold, on the other.

These 62.67 tonnes were exported to several countries and the EITI 2020 report gives the volume of exports by company and by country of destination. According to the analysis, Switzerland is the first destination for Burkinabe gold. With 57.4 tonnes of gold received in 2020, Switzerland was the recipient of almost all (91.6%) of the national production. It is followed by India (5.04 tonnes), France, the Arab Emirates, Belgium, Turkey, etc. Details of gold export volumes and revenues by company and country of destination are presented in the following tables and graphs.
