Artisanal gold mining: 40 sites closed in the Boucle du Mouhoun

More than 40 artisanal gold mining sites will have to be closed from 1 March until further notice. This is the result of an order issued by the governor of the Boucle du Mouhoun region, Babo Pierre Bassinga on 27 February 2023. This decision was taken for security reasons. The sites located in the communes of the region concerned are

  • Communes of Safané: Tounou, Bara, Ziasso, Yankasso and Safané-centre (Mouhoun province),
  • Commune of Tchériba: Kari and Kana (Mouhoun province),
  • Commune of Toma: Pankélé (Nayala Province);
  • Commune of Kougny: Gounian (Nayala Province),
  • Commune of Yé: Sahoura, Sankoué, Guèrsa, Daman and Tani (Province of Nayala);
  • Commune of Boromo: Signoguin (Province of Balé),
  • Commune of Bagassi: Bagassi, Yaramoko, Kousaro, Bounou, Kaho and Haho (Province of Balé),
  • Commune of Fara : Lanfièra, Bonporé, Koumbia, Limanweogo, Diensi, Ton and Dakaye (Bale Province),
  • Commune of Bana: Bana, Danou, Yona and Fofina (province of Balés),
  • Commune of Siby: Secaco, Darsalamy/Ballao, (provinde des Balés),
  • Commune of Poura: Poura-mine, Poura village, Kankélé, Baasnéré and Iman-weogo, (Balés province),
  • Commune of Yaho: Yaho, Maoula and Modou, (province of Balés),
  • Commune of Pompoî: San (Bale province).
