The local population of the Niankorodougou mine, operated by Endeavour mining’s Wahgnion Gold company, blocked the access roads to the mine yesterday, 16 April 2023. In the afternoon of 16 April 2023, the population invaded the mine, forcing the workers to take refuge. However, the workers were chased to the camp before mine security intervened to exfiltrate them. The situation calmed down at the end of the day.
On 17 April 2023, a meeting was held with several participants including representatives of the mine, community representatives and regional and provincial authorities.
According to sources, there was a major lull in the mine today. All remain committed to the conclusions of the meeting.
