Côte d’Ivoire: Signature of the collective agreement for the “Mines and Quarries” sector profit

This Friday 12 May 2023 in Port-Bouët in Côte d’Ivoire, the signing ceremony of the collective agreement in the “Mines and Quarries” sector took place. The signing was done between the president of the Professional Grouping of Miners of Côte d’Ivoire (Groupement Professionnel des Miniers de Côte d’Ivoire, GMPCI), Jean-Claude Diplo and the president of the Ivorian Federation of Mining, Metals, Quarry and Related Unions (Fédération Ivoirienne des Syndicats des Mines, Métaux, Carrières et Connexes, FISMECA), Assiénin Koffi.

On the occasion of this ceremony, the Minister of Employment and Social Protection, Mr Adama Kamara, invited employers and workers in the mining sector to promote social dialogue.

He also recalled that: “The government, aware of the challenges that exist in your sector, is taking vigorous action to better supervise it but also to fight against the scourge of illegal gold washing”.

The Minister of Mines, Petroleum and Energy Sangafowa Coulibaly stressed that “this signature is the result of the facilitation by the Minister of Employment and Social Protection between the employers and the mining workers, we could not find a better advocate than him”.
