On 16 May 2023, Touissit Mining Company (Compagnie Minière de Touissit, CMT) announced that it had been awarded 6 new exploration licences for all substances, covering a total area of 96 km2, located in the province of Azilal.

These 6 new licences will enable CMT to consolidate its mining assets around the province of Azilal, where it holds an operating licence and where it is developing its new copper project, the Tabaroucht Project. The feasibility study and basic engineering work prior to the start of construction of the plant have already been initiated.

According to CMT Chairman and CEO Luc Gerord: “The increase in the number of mining titles held (concessions, operating licences or exploration licences) is a key component of the Maroc Mines 2021-2030 plan and will help to make the Moroccan mining sector more attractive and contribute to the growth of the country’s economy. This step confirms our Group’s development strategy, both in the Kingdom and internationally”.

Compagnie Minière de Touissit is a Moroccan mining company specialising in the exploration, extraction and processing of base metals, precious metals and industrial minerals. Its operating and exploration sites are located in Morocco.

Compagnie Minière de Touissit is listed on the Casablanca stock exchange. Its main shareholders are OSEAD MAROC MINING, itself a subsidiary of the OSEAD Fund, and CIMR (Caisse Interprofessionnelle Marocaine de Retraites – Moroccan Interprofessional Pension Fund).
