From 17-28 July 2023, more than twenty participants from nine French-speaking African countries, including Burkina Faso, will meet in Yaoundé, Cameroon, with a view to improving their knowledge and capacity to positively influence the transparent and responsible management of extractive resources in Africa, in a context currently marked by debates on the urgency of a transition to the use of less polluting energies.
The courses cover subjects such as:
- The extractive industries decision-making chain
- The political economy of the extractive industries
- The legal and regulatory framework for the governance of natural resources
- Transparency and good governance initiatives in the extractive sector
- Mining and oil taxation
- Revenue collection and management
- Social and environmental impacts
- Diversifying the economy
- Critical minerals and the energy transition
- Domestic resource mobilisation in the context of the energy transition
