Yaoundé: Training on the Transparent Management of Extractive Resources in Africa from 17-28 July 2023

From 17-28 July 2023, more than twenty participants from nine French-speaking African countries, including Burkina Faso, will meet in Yaoundé, Cameroon, with a view to improving their knowledge and capacity to positively influence the transparent and responsible management of extractive resources in Africa, in a context currently marked by debates on the urgency of a transition to the use of less polluting energies.

The courses cover subjects such as:

  • The extractive industries decision-making chain
  • The political economy of the extractive industries
  • The legal and regulatory framework for the governance of natural resources
  • Transparency and good governance initiatives in the extractive sector
  • Mining and oil taxation
  • Revenue collection and management
  • Social and environmental impacts
  • Diversifying the economy
  • Critical minerals and the energy transition
  • Domestic resource mobilisation in the context of the energy transition
