The closing ceremony of the Artisanal Miners’ Day took place on 22 July 2023 in Gaoua. Prizes were awarded at the ceremony. Azara Sankara from the commune of Houdé, in the Haut-Bassins region, won the 2023 Mining Craftsman award. During the ceremony, Mines actu Burkina was awarded the prize for the media organisation best promoting mining and quarrying.
“It is a great honour for me to receive this prize. It will encourage fighting women to work harder so that their families can have a bright future”, says Azara Sankara, winner of the second edition of the JAM. According to her, the prize was awarded because she was able to respect the mining instructions given by the organising committee.
The JAM winner hails from Houndé, in the Hauts-Bassins region. She has been working in the mining industry for over 8 years.
