Tinlé Ramata Estelle Kobyagda: First woman Director of Quarry Regulation and Production at the Ministry of Mines

A woman has been promoted to a position of responsibility in the Ministry of Mines. The woman in question is Tinlé Ramata Estelle Kobyagda. She was appointed by the Council of Ministers on 17 August 2023 to the position of Director of Quarry Regulation and Production in the General Directorate of Quarries. A member of the Association of Women in the Mining Sector of Burkina Faso (Association des Femmes du Secteur Minier du Burkina Faso – AFEMIB), where she is responsible for a specialised commission, it was installed on 28 August 2023 by the Director General of Quarries, Patoingnimi Arsène Tiendrebéogo.

AFEMIB announced in a press release that she is the first woman to hold this position. “Her appointment marks not only the recognition of Ms Dolly’s outstanding intrinsic and professional value, but also a significant turning point for a more balanced and effective regulation of the careers sub-sector”, according to AFEMIB.

A lawyer by training, she worked in the Ministry’s Legal Affairs and Litigation Department, where she held a succession of positions. “Her impressive career is a source of motivation for women aspiring to leadership roles in this traditionally male-dominated sector”, says AFEMIB.

In her speech, Tinlé Ramata Estelle Kobyagda expressed her gratitude to her superiors for their trust, saying: “It is with immense pride and a deep sense of responsibility that I accept this role within our department”. After acknowledging the work done by her predecessors, she said she was aware of the environmental and social challenges to which her position is linked. Tinlé Ramata Estelle Kobyagda is committed to focusing on new challenges in order to find balanced solutions for a responsible and inclusive sector.
