At this year’s West African Mining Week (Semaine de l’Activité minière en Afrique de l’Ouest – SAMAO), the energy transition featured prominently in the discussion sessions. Indeed, at this year’s event, participants discussed the theme of “Energy transition in Africa: green minerals and renewable energy”.
The panellists, including Emma Kantiono, Managing Director of Essakane Solar, Dr Alidou Koutou and Yannick Sanou, took stock of the energy transition in Burkina Faso.
In her speech, the Managing Director of Essakane Solar spoke of the benefits of renewable energies in terms of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, increasing energy resilience and energy independence.
She also made a number of recommendations for improving the energy transition in Burkina Faso.
