Fortuna Silver Mines Inc announced on 5 October 2023 in Vancouver, Canada, record gold production in the 3d trimester 2023 from its 05 operating mines in West Africa and Latin America. Gold production for the trimester was 94,821 ounces compared to 66,344 ounces in the same period in 2022. Fortuna is well placed to achieve its annual production targets.
The increase in gold production in the 3d trimester 2023 is mainly due to the start of production at the Séguéla mine in Côte d’Ivoire in May 2023. This mine has just completed its first trimester of production. From the first gold pour on 24 May 2023 to the completion of the mill performance test in August 2023, operations are now exceeding nominal capacity. Séguéla is well placed to achieve its 2023 production guidance.
During the third trimester of 2023, the Séguéla plant processed 310,387 tonnes of ore at an average grade of 3.83 grams per tonne. For the fourth trimester, Séguéla will benefit from a steady increase in production capacity. The company will continue its optimisation activities with the aim of further increasing the plant’s production capacity.
