For Tidiane Barry, Managing Director of the mining company Iamgold Essakane SA, the signing of this agreement is the culmination of a partnership that has already existed for several years. On the areas of intervention, he notes that the Essakane mine will intervene according to ENAM’s projects and priorities. “Iamgold Essakane SA is in line with the school’s vision, particularly in terms of strengthening the technical facilities that will be made available to students,” he said.

The Director General of ENAM, Dr Jacob Yarabatioula, expressed his satisfaction at the signing of the partnership agreement between the 02 organisations. “ENAM is delighted to be able to sign this agreement with Essakane, which is a responsible mining company,” he said. According to ENAM’s CEO, Essakane is committed to helping ENAM meet its infrastructure challenges. “We have infrastructure challenges that Essakane has promised to meet to enable students to learn better, quickly and well, as well as other initiatives that will come as the partnership improves over time,” says Dr Jacob Yarabatioula. At the same time, he points out that Essakane is mainly involved in supporting pupils. “Ever since we first met, Essakane’s contribution has been to support our pupils,” he says.

The Director General of ENAM also pointed out that the mine had already been supporting ENAM long before the agreement was signed: “For 3 generations of students, we have not even benefited from a graduation ceremony. It was Essakane that supported us in 2022 and offered computer equipment to the best students”, explained Dr Jacob Yarabatioula. He hoped that the signing of the agreement would open up new prospects for supporting the Essakane mine at ENAM.

This framework agreement should lead to a number of initiatives, including the strengthening of infrastructure and technical facilities at the National School of Administration and Magistrates (École nationale d’administration et de magistrature), the development of a mining immersion programme for student civil servants at ENAM, and so on.
