Burkina Faso: The Yaramoko mine (Roxgold Bagassi) benefits from high grades and large areas of mineralisation

0
  • A grade of 7.72 grams per tonne in the third trimester of 2023
  • An increase of 24% compared with the same period in 2022
  • Production cost per ounce of gold: 752$
  • Annual gold production forecasts revised upwards by 14

The Yaramoko mine produced 34,036 ounces of gold in the third trimester of 2023 at an average grade of 7.72 grams per tonne, representing increases of 25% and 24% compared with the same period in 2022. The increase in production is the result of higher average grades and wider widths of mineralisation encountered, which contributed 42% of the total plant feed. This information was published on 8 November 2023 in Vancouver, Canada by Fortuna Silver Mines, which operates the mine.

As a result of the above-mentioned higher grades in the development and production areas of the mine plan, the Company has revised Yaramoko’s annual gold production guidance upwards from 92,000 ounces to 102,000 ounces, an increase of approximately 14%. Gold production for the first 9 months of 2023 totalled 89,476 ounces.

The cash cost to produce an ounce of gold during the 2023 trimester was 752$, compared with 934$ for the same period in 2022. The cash cost per ounce decreased as a result of higher production, improved grade of ore processed, lower mining costs related to ore development and lower transportation costs.

Sustaining capital expenditure for the third trimester 2023 was higher due to more intensive mine development. Brownfields expenditure was mainly related to drilling. During the fourth trimester, drilling will continue in the western part of the 55 Zone to test the up-dip and down-dip continuity of the recently discovered extensions of the resource envelope.
