A working session took place on Thursday 14 December 2023 between Bouygues Group representative Olivier Bouygues and the Gabonese Minister of Mines, Hervé Patrick Opiangah. According to the information made public by the communication department of the Gabonese ministry in charge of mines, the meeting consisted of discussing the details of the launch of a mining exploration project on the country’s maritime coasts.
The project involves developing, locating and understanding the resources contained in the mineralised sand deposited on Gabon’s sea coasts and rivers.
The first part of the project will involve identifying the minerals available, in collaboration with the Ministry of Mines, and then examining the benefits to be derived from them. All the results will be made available to the Gabonese government, enabling it to quantify the resources available in the areas to be exploited.
The metals sought by Heling company will be of vital importance to the ecological transition, says Olivier Bouygues. His company expects to find large quantities of these metals in Gabon.
Heling company has already been awarded research permits to bring the project into operation.
As a reminder, Heling Company specialises in renewable energy. This is its first project in Gabon, where it has obtained three exploration permits. It is mainly interested in the sediments produced by the natural erosion of mountains, which create sedimentary deposits.
