The extractive sector’s contribution to the Ivorian economy in 2021 is down on 2020. The figures are set out in the 2021 report of the Côte d’Ivoire Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI-CI).
In 2021, the contribution of the Ivorian extractive sector to the economy has fallen across all sub-sectors. Its contribution to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) fell from 4.6% in 2020 to 4.1% in 2021. Exports fell by 0.36% between 2020 and 2021. The share of extractive sector exports in total exports rose from 15.02% in 2021 to 15.38% in 2020. Budget revenues and the employment rate have also fallen in statistical terms. Budget revenues from the Ivorian extractive sector have fallen from 6.32% in 2020 to 5.96% in 2021. Employment will fall from 0.66% to 0.54% in 2021.
