0

The mining sector in Burkina Faso is considered one of the most dynamic in West Africa, according to the 2020 report of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) in Burkina Faso. For this report, based on its performance in recent years! “Burkina Faso is moving from an agricultural country to a mining country with significant and varied mining potential, spread throughout the country.

The country’s main resources are gold, zinc, copper, manganese, phosphate and limestone. Indications of diamonds, bauxite, nickel and vanadium have been identified in various geological formations. However, gold remains the most exploited mineral in Burkina Faso.

The development of the mining sector has been achieved through increased investment and the opening of industrial mines accompanied by changes in the legislative and regulatory context of mining activities. Mining production is essentially gold, which is found almost everywhere on the national territory.

Apart from gold, zinc and phosphate mines, there are ores in many other sites not yet exploited containing manganese, copper, limestone, bauxite and others. The main ores available are listed in an attached table.
