The Publish What You Pay (PWYP) global coalition is organising its Africa 2023 Conference from 8 to 10 June 2023 in the city of Saly Portudal in Senegal. The conference is expected to welcome more than 100 participants from various sectors and countries in Africa and beyond. It aims, among other things, to strengthen the power and capacity of PWYP members and partners in Africa to ensure transparent, accountable, sustainable and equitable governance of transition minerals and equitable fossil fuel phase-out in Africa; to share experiences, learn and reflect on the implementation and next phase of PWYP’s five-year strategy, Vision 2025; and to ensure good governance and strategic direction of PWYP in Africa.
In accordance with the Africa Charter, the founding document of PWYP in Africa, one of the main objectives of the Africa conference is to elect new representatives to the Africa Steering Committee (Comité de Pilotage Afrique, CPA). The CPA is the continental governance body that provides strategic guidance and support for the implementation of the campaign across the continent.

Publish What You Pay (PWYP) is the global campaign for an open and accountable extractive industry. We are the only global movement working to ensure that revenues from oil, gas and mining are used to drive development. With over 1000 member organisations and 51 national coalitions, our strength lies in our ability to coordinate national and global action, maximising our collective impact, so that everyone benefits from their natural resources – now and in the future.
PWYP works with governments, communities and companies to reduce corruption in the extractive sector and to ensure that ordinary people benefit fully from their income from natural resources.
