Mrs. Françoise Sanou-Piouparé is a member of the Publish What You Pay (PWYP) national coalition where she was a board member from 2008 to 2010. She actively participates in the activities of this coalition. She was the national focal point for the two phases of the EITI Gender Project (2018 to 2022) implemented by the PWYP coalitions in Burkina Faso, Guinea and Senegal.
On the occasion of Independence Day (11 December 2022), the Burkinabe government, through the Ministry in charge of Gender, Women and Humanitarian Action, awarded Mrs. Sanou the medal “Knight of the Burkinabe Order of Merit for Health and Social Action, with a Women’s Promotion Clasp” on Friday 16 December 2022. This distinction crowns several years of activism in civil society. Indeed, she has been active in several women’s organisations, including the Burkina Faso Movement for Human and People’s Rights (MBDHP), her first national organisation, where she was president of the MPDHP section in Nahouri for three years. At the National Council of CSOs (CNOSC-BF), she was a member of the national bureau as Deputy Secretary General, in charge of gender and public policies (2011 – 2022). During these years, she capitalised on her extensive experience in public and sectoral policies, in the governance of land resources, extractive resources, especially women’s rural land rights.
