Marie-Rose Aida Tamboura is the current Country Manager for Burkina Faso of the Australian mining company Horanga Resources Ltd. Haranga Resources Ltd holds the exploration permit for Loropeni Resources SARL. Consequently, Marie-Rose Aida Tamboura is the manager of Loropeni Sarl.
Marie-Rose Aida Tamboura is the first woman to run a mining exploration company in Burkina Faso. She joined the sector at the beginning of the mining boom in the early 2000s. At that time, there were no women in high-level decision-making positions. Aida Tamboura decided to lay the foundations herself.
She is an experienced woman who is taking over the reins of this company, as she holds a diploma in executive and administrative assistant, EAD, rue Soufflot, Paris. She also holds a Master’s degree in economic and social administration from Assas Panthéon in Paris and another Master’s degree in company administration and management from ISIG in Burkina Faso.
Prior to her appointment as Country Manager of Haranga Resources Ltd and Manager of Loropeni Sarl, she was successively Managing Director of Resources Mutual, Sanu Resources (Canadian companies based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada), Birrimian BVI LTD (British Virgin Islands), a South African company, and Predictive Discovery Sarl and Predictive Discovery Ivory Coast.
On the associative level, she is the founder and past president of the Association of Women in the Mining Sector of Burkina Faso (AFEMIB), created in December 2000. Under the leadership of UEMOA, in July 2014 in Ouagadougou, she brought together women from the geo-extractive sector to establish a Common Mining Policy. In July 2015, the Network of Women in Mining Associations was created and launched in Abidjan, Women in Mining of West Africa (WIMOWA). This structure now brings together 14 member countries of which she is the coordinator. Under her leadership, she developed and drafted the “Gender chart in the geo-extractive sector” within the West African Economic Community, a sub-regional organisation of 14 countries.
Finally, she is the knowledge exchange coordinator of the ASM Delve Exchange network in charge of the French-speaking countries.
